Posture Improvement with PilatesEveryone is talking about posture these days...texting, talking on cell phones while holding them between ear and shoulder, transferring these same habits to other parts of your life when they don't even make sense! The sad news is that we ALL do it (even myself) so the real question becomes how to stop it. I have found a few key strategies through Pilates: First, I think about my posture more. Awareness is the first step.
Next, I stand or sit up straight with my ears lined up over my shoulders. This creates proper head positioning and helps with opening up the chest. Then I pull my shoulder blades toward each across my back. AHHHH! Feels better already. Practicing the Pilates Method regularly will improve strength and flexibility so that all of the above feels natural all the time! |
